I was born and raised in Iowa and attended Iowa State University for 3 years majoring in Applied Art. I married and after my three children were born I attended the artist in residence program at the Des Moines Art Center for several years. In 1975 I moved to the Denver area and as a "mature" student received my BFA in fine art from Colorado Women's College. After graduation I continued to pursue my art through workshops in the Denver area. Later I held art classes in my studio for several years. I moved to Evergreen, one of the first mountain communities west of Denver, and continued exploring new methods and ideas in my paintings. I have been following a spiritual path for many years prompted by the deaths of two of my children. As I continued to open more to my inner self, my work shifted again in its focus. I started adding heavy texture and simplifying the composition, using metaphor for meaning. This past year I have written a book called "Painting the Mystery" which details the search. In the summer of 2005 I moved to Albuquerque. I have been painting for 40 years and have found it to be constantly challenging and rewarding.
